I guess I can't save a Red Barchetta for my nephew because there will be no oil left. But seriously, I don't think we will run out of oil in my lifetime but we need to find alternatives...I think this: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is the solution for me and you and all other gear heads in the world.

I can only hope I'm not damned to drive a soulless electric car in my future, and that I will never get to have my 911 and M3

We can only hope for an alternative, compatible fuel if cars as we know it can survive.

I am surprised biomass gasification hasn't been improved all that much in like 80 years

You still need oil to make electric cars. You need oil just to make plastic. Running out of oil with our current technology would mean more than driving electric cars.

This is true, our entire infrastructure depends on oil, we are royally boned if we don't do anything about it

The oil COs probably have something to do with it

Your comment brought this wood burning El Camino back into my mind. The builder is the current leader of Finnish Centre Party .

But 1) you're not burning the stuff to make the plastic, and 2) plastic is recyclable.

The Red Barchetta reference is a good reference.

All, look upon thee and see for thineself, this is how you make a Rush reference.

That fuel looks promising, We need a good way to synthesis fuel and reduce co2...seems like a win/win, so long as its energy positive.

I'll say this without trying to sound like too much of a tree-hugger. Aside from driving a car, I try to be as green as possible. I use a reel mower and mow my lawn with human power. I shovel my driveway instead of snowblowing it. I try to bike to the grocery store if I'm only going for things I can throw in a backpack. Our A/C is turned off in favor of fans unless it's unbearable. We'll be insulating our attic and converting all of our lightbulbs to LEDs to lessen our electric bills and soon enough I want to run my garage off of solar power.

But when it comes to cars, all logic is out the window. I would prefer to drive something that gets 15mpg but has me grinning like an idiot the entire way of my 45 mile round-trip commute

Whenever I have kids, I will make sure to get them in the garage, turning wrenches on my ICE (internal combustion engine) cars before everything turns electric and that nostalgia is gone for good

The biggest help would be to stop butting so much damned plastic in cars, and everything else. Or make less new cars and engineer the ones you do make to last for a lot longer so that there are less base resources being used and keep the junk yards less full.

As long as we are burning hydrogen in an engine I'll agree

Lol it did not. The codes were the usual E90 (sedan), E92 (coupe) and E93 (convertible). Good guess though, mine is an E90!
